Vacation Wrap-Up

What a crazy week after returning home from vacation!  Im still trying to get back into the swing of things and catching on my favorite shows (Real Housewives of Orange County and Bethenny Ever After, specifically) on the DVR.  (By the way, what did I EVER do before DVR!?)

So, heres the vacation wrap-up!

On day four we went to downtown Delray and walked up and down the strip.  We went antique shopping (yes, I found SO many awesome historic things... and no, I didnt buy ANYTHING.  Bummer) and ate lunch outdoors.  W had an Arugula pizza...  Im not sure he's such a fan.  We may have finally found a pizza he DOESNT like.  But it looked beautiful.  We went to a fish market and bought some seafood and cooked it  for dinner.  I learned that I am officially a saltwater fish fan!  I loved the tuna steak from day three and loved the swordfish on day four even more.  SO GOOD!  Apparently I was a photography slacker on day four, as well!

On day five I had a spa appointment (Thank you, livingsocial) at Anoo's Herbal Day Spa in Boca Raton.  Amazing.  So relaxing.  Everything used there is organic and all natural.  I had a facial, stone massage and pedicure and the lady even threw in an extra back treatment for free since she had a massage therapy student observing.  Sold.  W went and smoked some cigar's at a place called Joe's Cigar Bar and apparently made BFF's with the owner.  After being lubed up and rubbed down and smoked up, we went and got seafood again and cooked dinner (see photo below).  Our homecooked meals were the best meals the we had during vacation.  I love seafood!

Day six was our celebrated anniversary!  We were actually married on 05/02, but we have always celebrated our anniversary on 05/05... it's the day of prom (cue the 'awww') when we first met.  Plus, its CINCO DE MAYO!  I mean, who DOESNT want to have an EXTRA thing to celebrate on the mexican-food eating day of the year!??  So, we got up and went to go see the sun rise on the beach.  Well, I guess the ONE day of vacation that would rain would be on 05/05.  So, the sunrise was sort of a failure.  Boo.

Our big plans for the day were to go see a minor league baseball game.  We were going to see the Jupiter Hammerheads.  It was thirsy Thursday ($2 drafts) and W didnt scroll down far anough to see that it was also EDUCATION day!  Well, busloads of kids were there, so Thirsty Thursdays were called off.  Plus, it was monsooning outside.  Not the weather youd like to sit down and watch a baseball game in.  So, we went to the beach instead.  For some reason, it wasnt raining there.  (Cue angels singing)

W and I also have an anniversary tradition involving our caketopper.  Well, not THE caketopper, because we were married in Indiana and live in Arkansas and werent able to savage the thing.  So, we have it recreated every year.  It was a white cake with raspberry filling (but, ironically, W hates raspberries, so we dont do this filler every year).  It was butterbream icing with white chocolate shavings (almost looking like coconut) on the top and outsides.  Its interesting to see how people interpret my description every year.  This year the added some cream chease dallops on the top since we went with a red velvet cake.  It was super yummy!

We went out to eat at a pizza restaurant called Antonio's.  No arugala there.  It was coal fired pizza.  Yum.

The last two days were spent sleeping in until 11, putting on a bathing suit, reading by the pool until 4 or 5 and getting food at little local places.  We ate at a small pizza place that had GREAT sicilian pizza.  I havent had brick oven pizza like that since I lived in Connecticut.  I also totally slacked on the pictures since it was the lazy part of vacation.  And likely how I gained 5 pounds. Maybe 6.

We got back to Arkansas and picked up our pugs.  They were fat, too!  I mean, F-A-T!  So, Momma and the ladies are officially on a diet.  Seriously! (Wink.)

Back to the DVR...  next up... Ruby and Operation Repo!  (Does ANYONE but me watch these shows?!)

Seafood Love

Im blogging on VACATION! How's that for a hardcore blogger!? Ill make it quick since I need to go aloe my sunburn (and Im not complaining!)

Day one included homemade lasagna by Grammie for lunch and we dropped her off at the airport. We had dinner on the intercoastal waterway (crabcakes... yum).  We went out to a cigar bar and bought some stogies. I bought a white chocolate one, but haven't been able to smoke it yet ... Ill have to let you know how it is!

Day two included Delray Beach (where I got mt burn!) and we went to dinner at Whales Rib.  We had clams, raw oysters and baked scallops. The picture (wherever it posts... Im doing this from my phone, so who knows how this'll turn out) is of Delray Beach.

Day three was supposed to be massage/facial/pedicure day, but its been rescheduled. So instead we were drinking on Deerfield Beach and eating fried calamari. We went to a fish market and bought fresh tuna and scallops. That night, we HAD DINNER PREPARED FOR US! Private chefs and all ;), since it was our second year anniversary. (We tyically celebrate on cinco de mayo, but we're making it an all week affair)  Below (again, who knows where these photos will go) is the photo of the final product... blackened seared tuna, sauteed scallops, garlic bread and roasted red parmesean potatos. YUM. Best. Meal. Ever.

Today... who knows??! Ill keep you all posted!!
